HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL WEEK SIX SCHEDULE

High School football kicks off Week Six tonight with four games on our Renda Media stations, but one Heritage Conference game has been canceled.

Northern Cambria has forfeited tonight’s game at West Shamokin.  The district did not post a reason for the cancellation, but Athletic Director Fred Montinaro tells the Johnstown Tribune Democrat that it’s for a medical reason, but not for Covid-19.  According to Montinaro, quoted in the Tribune Democrat, “It is not covid-19 related. We have a couple medical concerns.  We had the school physician in.  Things are under control.”

West Shamokin Athletic Director Philip Parks said yesterday that they were unable to find a substitute opponent for tonight.

Tonight on WCCS, 4-1 Homer Center visits 1-4 Penns Manor.

Wildcats coach Greg Page knows the Comets are a dangerous opponent.

Comets coach Bill Packer says his young team can’t afford to make mistakes against the Wildcats.

On Cat Country, 106.3 FM tonight, 5-0 River Valley hosts 4-1 Purchase Line.

Red Dragons coach Matt Falisec says the Panthers are one of the Heritage Conference’s most talented teams, and they have depth.

River Valley coach Jess Houser says they have to get pressure on Red Dragons’ sophomore quarterback John Elick.

On 92.5 FM U92 tonight, undefeated Cambria Heights visits 2-3 Marion Center in rematch of last year’s first round District 6 playoff game.

The Stingers have stumbled in recent weeks, but coach Adam Rising says there is a lot to play for tonight.

Highlanders coach Jarrod Lewis says Marion Center has a lot of returning players at the skill positions, and he knows they’ll be ready tonight.

The other game tonight involving a Heritage Conference team is a preview of next year, when Portage joins the conference.  Winless United makes the trip to play the undefeated Mustangs.

On WDAD, Indiana looks to get back on the winning track against 1-4 Knoch tonight.  3-2 Indiana is coming off a loss to Greensburg Salem while Knoch was beaten by Armstrong, 49-6.

Indiana coach Brandon Overdorff says his team will be ready.
