State Police have released details on their extra enforcement efforts over the four-day Labor Day weekend, which targeted distracted, aggressive, and intoxicated drivers.
Troopers from the Indiana barracks made 871 traffic stops from Friday through Monday, and issued 883 citations. Fifteen drivers were arrested for driving under the influence, and police investigated six crashes, none of them fatal, but one of them DUI-related.
By far, the most traffic citations issued were for speeding. 594 motorists were ticketed for excessive speed. There were 271 other citations issued.
State Troopers also made eleven criminal arrests and rendered assistance to three motorists.
