Randall Arthur “Randy” Hegner, 41, of Indiana, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly on October 24, 2026, at UPMC Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Randy was the youngest son of Dona S. Hegner of Indiana, PA, and the late Gregory J. Hegner. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, partner, and friend whose kindness, generosity, and warmth touched the lives of those who knew him.
Randy graduated from Indiana Area Senior High School, where he was a varsity tennis player, and later earned an Associate’s Degree from Cambria Rowe Business College. He worked for many years in the IT Department of First Commonwealth Bank, where he was respected for his technical expertise, dependability, and willingness to train and help others.
Outside of work, Randy was an avid sports fan who followed the Cleveland Browns, Bayern Munich, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and collecting sports cards. Of all the roles he held, one of his favorites was being a “funcle” to his nieces, nephew, and adopted nieces and nephews. He was always ready with a laugh, a story, a thoughtful gift, or a way to make an ordinary day more special.
Randy will be remembered as a compassionate, generous, caring, energetic, and loving man. He was always the first to make a joke, and he had a gift for connecting with people and making them feel welcome. He led with kindness and loyalty, and his memory will live on in the countless lives he touched.
He is survived by his loving mother, Dona S. Hegner of Indiana, PA; his partner, Jen Sunderlin; his brother, Keith Hegner (Lisa) of Austin, Texas; his twin brother, Kevin Hegner (Shonna Pantuso) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; his nieces, Helana Pantuso, Addison Hegner, and Marlow Hegner; his nephew, Alden Hegner; his aunts, Elizabeth Rice, Barbara Simpkins, Eileen Corsette, Jane Hegner, and Judy Hegner; his uncles, Brian Sankey and King Simpkins; and many special cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Gregory J. Hegner; his aunt, Brenda Paullo; and his uncles, Ronald Hegner and Ralph Hegner.
Details of Randy’s Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in support of the missions work of Grace Global Methodist Church in Indiana, Pennsylvania.
