Penguins forward Ben Kindel is back in Pittsburgh after suffering a vasovagal episode on the team plane in Utah.
Pens President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kyle Dubas said that the episode occurred about ten minutes into the team flight home, causing him to faint. He did regain consciousness before the plane made its emergency landing back in Salt Lake City, and was taken to the University of Utah hospital for further observation. He returned to Pittsburgh yesterday after he was cleared to travel.
No word yet on what triggered the vasovagal episode, but he was placed on injured reserve today. He could return to practice as early as Sunday and be back in action in about a week.
