The CDC is officially marking a third measles death to its national U.S. tracker, as total cases for the year surpass 4,400.
The agency’s database does not specify when or where the death occurred, but the news comes after it reported a disease expert will assist with the growing outbreak in Pennsylvania. Governor Josh Shapiro has accused Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. of spreading misinformation, leading to declining vaccination rates amid soaring cases.
According to health authorities in the commonwealth, at least six people have died — but the federal agency has not acknowledge all the deaths in the state.
