Westmoreland County Airport Authority officials have announced Breeze Airlines will now serve Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Unity Township.
The agreement was finalized at this morning’s Westmoreland County Airport Authority meeting, five months after Spirit Airlines shuttered operations nationwide and declared bankruptcy. The company offers flights to over 91 destinations in the U.S., Mexico, The Caribbean and Costa Rica and also operates over 300 seasonal routes. Breeze already provides service to Pittsburgh International Airport.
The authority received $850,000 in federal grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Small Community and Rural Air Service Program. That money can be used as a minimum flight guarantees.
Breeze has declined to comment on where it will fly passengers from Arnold Palmer Regional Airport and when service would start.
