The Indiana School Board heard from some community members at Monday night’s meeting about unruly behavior in East Pike’s Classrooms.
During the public comment section, many citizens spoke out on the alleged behaviors in the classroom, ranging from teachers being struck, chairs being thrown and foul language being used. Assistant Superintendent Sean Gildea said that the district is already starting to address the issue.
The concerns had been brought forward to the administration in late September. The board decided to hold an additional executive session was held after the meeting to discuss the matter further, but no other motions were made afterward.
The board did approve a cyber response agreement with RSM, a statement of work for data recovery services with DriveSavers Data Recovery and a letter of engagement with Lewis, Brisbois, Bisgaard and Smith LLP in connection with the recent cyberattack against the district. As the services were needed immediately, the contracts were approved retroactively.
