One of the defendants in the murder of Hayden Gareffa is expected to withdraw his guilty plea today in Indiana County Court.
Court documents show that Issac Buchkowski of Johnstown, who will turn 25 later this month, pleaded guilty but mentally ill to criminal homicide, kidnap to facilitate a felony, aggravated assault and conspiracy to kidnapping and aggravated assault on April 16th of this year. He was reportedly one of a group of people who kidnapped Gareffa, stabbed him to death and left him in an area of tall grass on Oneida Mine Road in Brush Valley Township in October of 2022.
Last week, Summer Settlemyer, also of Johnsotwn, received a sentenced of 50 years to life in state prison for her pleas of guilty but mentally ill. This will make her eligible for mental health treatments while she is serving her sentence.
