When her day arrived on God’s calendar, Sunday, September 27, 2026, Marlene (Greene) King, 92, of Prosperity Hill, PA entered heaven from her earthly home following a brief illness. Marlene’s family was with her at the time of her departure.
The daughter of Ray and Olive Greene, she was born on June 20, 1934 in Green Twp., Indiana Co., PA.
Marlene was a graduate of the Green Twp. High School.
On July 10, 1954, Marlene married Donald “Skip” King. They had shared over sixty-seven years of marriage together when he went to be with the Lord on February 2, 2022.
Marlene was a faithful, active member of the Purchase Line Church of the Brethren. A Deaconess emeritus, she was also currently the oldest living member of the church. For decades Marlene participated in the Women’s Fellowship, where she served as Treasurer and provided transportation for members to travel to many church related district activities. Marlene also served as VBS teacher and youth group advisor.
Time with family was of great importance to Marlene. She attended the twice a month Cousins Luncheon. Marlene held the offices of secretary and treasurer with the Greene Reunion and enjoyed visiting with her relatives at the reunion every July.
Marlene thoroughly loved traveling with her family to Bethany Beach, DE to spend hours at the beach sitting in the sun. A thoughtful correspondent, Marlene was truly attentive and loyal in sending numerous cards to her family members and friends throughout the year.
Reading was a favorite hobby. Marlene and her husband, Skip, dedicatedly delivered meals for the Meals On Wheels program for over twenty-six years.
One of Marlene’s known traits was her honesty. You never had to wonder what Marlene was thinking.
She is survived by her two children: Murray King and wife Chris of Marion Center, PA and Lisa Rowley and husband, Roger of Hillsdale, PA; her two grandchildren: Dr. Jessica King-Dylewski and husband, Dr. Jayme Dylewski of Aurora, CO and Zachary King and wife Michaela of Commodore, PA; her honorary granddaughter, Nicki Hobart, her great grandson, JP Dylewski and her two great granddaughters: Juniper Dylewski and Emery King.
Marlene is survived by her sister, Carol Rae Fetterman of Prosperity Hill, PA; her three sisters-in-law, Saundra Deabenderfer; Wanda King; and Sharon King and her numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Skip; her three sisters: Orabelle Henry; Gaynelle Fyock and Maxine Fyock; her sisters and brothers in-law: Dorothy Lamer; Harold King; William King; Carol Jean Benson and Jim King and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Margaret King
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the 1:00 p.m. funeral service at the Purchase Line Church of the Brethren located at 3711 Purchase Line Road, Clymer, PA in Green Township. Pastor Brian Spencer will officiate. Cemetery committal will follow at Ruffner Cemetery near Tanoma, PA.
