The Penguins have until five o’clock this afternoon to set their final roster for Wednesday’s opening game of the season in Philadelphia.
Yesterday, the team placed forwards Ben Kindel and Blake Lizotte and defenseman Ryan Graves on injured reserve. On Saturday, they put forward Justin Brazeau on the injured list as well.
Also, the Pens on Sunday assigned three top prospects to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Defenseman Harrison Brunicke, forward Bill Zonnon, and goaltender Joel Blomqvist will all start the season in the AHL.
Among other moves over the weekend, defenseman Caleb Jones was placed on waivers for reassignment purposes. After going unclaimed, Jones was sent to Wilkes. Also sent down on Saturday were former top draft choice Owen Pickering, fellow defensemen Jake Livanavage and Chase Pietila, forward Rafael Harvey-Pinard and goaltender Cam Johnson.
