The Pirates ended the home portion of their 2026 season by taking a game and their series from the Cardinals.

The Pirates will end the season with a three-game series at Detroit, starting tonight with Bubba Chandler (8-9, 4.34 ERA) pitching against Jackson Jobe (2-3, 3.98 ERA). (No radio tonight on WCCS due to high school football.)
The Pirates will go with a bullpen game tomorrow to face Justin Verlander, the Detroit legend who returned to the Tigers this season but was injured in his first game and hasn’t pitched since. It will be Verlander’s final appearance before he retires from baseball after 21 seasons, 266 wins, one American League MVP Award, and three Cy Young Awards.
