The Homer-Center School District has announced that it has received a grant from the Staunton Farm Foundation to help fund a mental health counselor for this school year.
The $115,000 grant will make mental health support more accessible for students during the school year, and it will help encourage students to seek mental health counseling when needed and reinforce the importance of mental health to overall wellness. The foundation works to enhance behavioral health treatment, support and recovery through grant-making to non-profit organizations in Indiana and nine other counties.
In a statement, District Superintendent Ralph Cecere said that he and the district were grateful for the grant, saying that “their support helps us put our district’s motto, ‘where everybody is somebody’ into practice in a meaningful way.
