IUP has announced another clinical affiliation training agreement for the new College of Osteopathic Medicine.
This time, the school’s agreement is with Clarks Summit State Hospital. This will give students who are on their third and fourth years another place to study in a clinical setting while also addressing the urgent need for health care professionals in rural and underserved communities. Clarks Summit is one of Pennsylvania’s six state hospitals that provides inpatient services for people with severe and persistent mental illness. The training agreement with Clarks Summit State Hospital supports both PA DHS’ and IUP College of Osteopathic Medicine’s broader mission to serve Pennsylvania communities and ensure access to quality health care for all.
In a statement, IUP’s President Dr. Michael Driscoll said the university was proud to partner with DHS and with Clarks Summit, Warren and Torrance state hospitals, saying,“These partnerships provide critically important training opportunities for our future students in our College of Osteopathic Medicine.”
