The first “Superload” arrived yesterday at the Homer City Generating site, and today, the vehicles that hauled those oversized and heavy loads are headed back to Armstrong County.
The two-day trip went off with very few concerns with the exception of a sharp turn and moving power lines and traffic signals out of the way. Today, the empty trailers are headed back to Schenley in Armstrong County for the next round. The trip is expected to take one day and also expected to use normal speeds. There will be no transportation activity on Saturday or Sunday, but company officials say that the next run will be on Monday.
This marks the first of several loads expected to come through the area between now and October as Edwards transports 15 heat recovery steam generators to the site. More runs are expected in November and January.
