The Penguins will play Dallas this morning at 10:30 on the final day of the Detroit Red Wings Prospect Challenge. The Pens are 2-0, with wins over Columbus and Detroit in their first two outings.
The hockey has been good in Detroit but the arena in which they’re playing is subpar and there is no seating for fans, so it’s been closed to the public. One reported rumor making the rounds at the tournament is that next year’s prospect challenge will be hosted by the Penguins at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry.
Penguins training camp opens in Cranberry in just two days. The Pens’ first preseason game will be Monday at PPG Paints Arena against Buffalo.
The Penguins have named former Houston Astros senior vice president of business operations Marcel Braithwaite as their new president of business operations. That position has been vacant since Kevin Acklin left the Pens in February of 2025. Braithwaite served in a variety of front office positions with the Astros over fourteen years.
