Altoona won its third straight game last night, overcoming a first-inning three-run deficit with a four-run first and a five-run second and beating Akron, 9-5. Jesus Castillo hit a leadoff homer in the bottom of the first, Callan Moss drove in three runs, and Javier Rivas drove in two for the Curve.
Reliever Jake Shirk got the win, as he, Jaycob Deese, and Jarod Bayless combined to retire fifteen consecutive Akron batters.
The Curve will play a doubleheader today, both games seven innings, starting at 4:30. Peyton Stumbo starts the opener and Po Yu Chen the nightcap.
