STEELERS RELEASE DEPTH CHART FOR WEEK ONE

The Steelers did not practice yesterday but will be back at it today, getting ready for Sunday’s season opener against Atlanta at Acrisure Stadium.

The team yesterday released its first depth chart, showing Dylan Cook number one at right tackle.  Coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that he hadn’t decided yet between Cook and first round draft pick Max Iheanachor, and the listing of Cook doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll start. At right cornerback, the depth chart shows Joey Porter Jr. OR Asante Samuel Jr.  TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith are listed as defensive starters on the edges but Nick Herbig is also designated as a starter, at the top of the chart at the hybrid “outside linebacker”, and the tight end is listed as Pat Freiermuth OR Darnell Washington.

Both ESPN and The NFL Network reported yesterday that the Steelers have made a contract offer to Joey Porter Jr., but The NFL Network’s Mike Garofolo says the offer was “not good enough…to be deemed close.”

It wasn’t exactly the “Welcome to Pittsburgh” moment Max Iheanachor was expecting.  The Duquesne Heights home of the Steelers’ top draft choice was broken into in broad daylight on August 26^th.  As much as $200,000 worth of items were stolen, including jewelry and designer bags.  No arrests have been made.  The home on Mount Washington was locked.  Entry was gained by throwing a rock through a window.
