Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers met the media yesterday to talk about the end of training camp and the transition to regular season prep for the opener September 13th against Atlanta.
Rodgers says he’s happy to start his final season with his old Green Bay coach, new Steelers coach Mike McCarthy.
Rodgers says the coverage schemes in the NFL are different now than when he first got into the league. From the sound of it, it hasn’t gotten simpler! (If you can figure out what he’s saying!)
Rodgers has a mix of new and more familiar faces to work with in the receiving corps, and he likes the potential. But former Colts wideout Michael Pittman Jr. is a bit of an unknown because he’s been injured in camp, so he’ll have to blend in with some of the QB’s dependable teammates.
Joey Porter Jr. was back on the practice field for the Steelers yesterday, making it two in a row since he came off the PUP list. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported yesterday that the Steelers’ “lack of a formal offer for weeks” may prompt Porter to ask for a trade.
The Steelers also yesterday signed undrafted safety Bishop Fitzgerald to the practice squad. He’s been with the Titans in training camp. There is an apparent snag in their already-reported signing of former Cowboys safety Juanyeh Thomas, who was at the team facility yesterday but was not listed on the practice squad roster.
