The River Valley School District has put the Saltsburg Elementary School on remote learning for now as they deal with their own air quality issues.
Air quality results that were received by the district early yesterday morning prompted a move of Saltsburg Elementary students and teachers to the River Valley STEAM academy campus. Parents were given the option to pick up their children yesterday, and if they did take that option, the child would not be marked absent. With the remote learning in place today, students in kindergarten through second grade or those who do not have access to technology and have not already received their learning packets will be able to pick them up from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM today at the STEAM academy office. The district is hopeful that students will be able to return to the building on September 18th, but an exact return date will be announced once remediation and follow-up testing are complete.
A special school board meeting will be held tonight at the River Valley Middle/High School Auditorium to discuss and consider action regarding mold concerns at the Saltsburg Elementary campus. That will start at 6:00 tonight. An exact agenda has not been released.
Meanwhile, the start of the school year remains delayed for Homer-Center Elementary students due to mold remediation.
