Four advocacy groups teamed up on Sunday to post signs on the new Route 22 pedestrian bridge in Burrell Township protesting the potential arrival of a data center to Indiana County.

Signs reading “No Data Centers”, “No Amazon” and “People Over Profit” were hung from the bridge Sunday by the groups Concerned Residents of Western PA and Unite Armstrong along with Indiana County Common Good. The three were supported by the Pittsburgh Overpass Project in putting the signs up. They are part of an ongoing effort to show community opposition to the natural gas-fueled power plant and a proposed data center in Center Township. In a statement, ICCG member Danielle Morganti said that “It is critical that we continue to be loud and visible about our opposition,” about data centers coming to the area and that the groups “will not stop fighting to protect our land, air, water and health.”
It was announced this month that Amazon was considering the Homer City Redevelopment site as a location for a future data center that would be powered by energy generated by the new power plant.
CROW is planning an anti-data center rally on September 12th at IRMC Park in Indiana.
