The Pittsburgh Steelers were shut out by the New York Jets in the second week of the pre-season 17-0.
Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph did not play, as the coaches were looking at the two competing for the third and fourth quarterback slots on the roster. Will Howard was intercepted twice. He and Drew Allar combined for 144 yards until the game was already decided when Allar completed four passes followed by four incompletions.
One of the positives from Friday night was that the Steelers were more disciplined than last week. No penalties against Pittsburgh in the first half and four penalties for 30 yards in the second half. Another positive was the defense, with the Steelers holding the Jets to 143 yards and five first downs between the two Touchdowns the Jets scored.
The Steelers will wrap up the pre-season next Thursday night, August 27th in Buffalo against the Bills.
