Indiana opened up its boys golf season beating Punxsutawney by three strokes and Ridgway by 32 at the Punxsy Country Club yesterday. Indiana carded a 215, Punxsy a 218 and Ridgway a 247. Indiana seniors Ryan Bell and Rudy Lipniskis both shot 40 and joined the Chucks’ Aiden Ishman as co-medalists. The Indians’ Chace Force shot 42, Will Steve 45, and Beau Raykes 48. Indiana will play at Hempfield tomorrow in its Section opener.
Homer-Center throttled Ferndale by 59 strokes at Chestnut Ridge, firing a combined 203. The Wildcats’ Reece Coy was the medalist with a 38, one stroke ahead of teammates Aidan Darr and Jordy Arone. Noah Todd added a 43 and Cole Sorber and Ty Steffey both shot 44. The alternates had good rounds, too with Eliott Drew shooting 38, Will Farabaugh 46, and Mason Kunkle 49. The Wildcats will visit Portage today.
River Valley came away with a win over Conemaugh Valley. The team scored a 223, led by Brady Doak’s 37. Luke Rokicsak shot 44 for the Panthers, followed by Nate Beuten 46, Hunter Baird 48 and Noah Carnahan 48. The team will host Ferndale today at Chestnut Ridge.
