Sentencing hearings are scheduled for today for two of the people involved in the kidnapping and killing of Hayden Gareffa in 2022.
Hearings for 24-year-old Issac Buchkowski and 22-year-old Summer Settlemyer, both of Johnstown are scheduled for this morning in front of Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco. The two were part of a group of five that took Gareffa from his grandmother’s home on Route 403 on October 20th of 2022 and stabbed him multiple times. He was found dead along Oneida Mine Road in Brush Valley Township.
Buchkowski pleaded guilty but mentally ill to charges of criminal homicide, kidnapping to facilitate a felony, aggravated assault, and conspiracy to kidnapping and aggravated assault. Settlemyer entered similar pleas to criminal homicide, kidnapping, conspiracy to those crimes and aggravated assault.
