Negotiations began last Wednesday on a new contract for faculty at IUP and the other State System of Higher Education universities. Separate talks on a new deal for coaches began on August 7th.
Both the faculty and coaches are entering the final year of their four-year contracts. As with the coaches, the first meeting with faculty last Wednesday was to discuss the negotiation process. While the talks with the coaches will resume on October 13th, no date has been announced for the next meeting with faculty.
The contracts for faculty, coaches, and for OPEIU (Office of Professional Employees International Union Healthcare Pennsylvania), which represents nurses at the State System schools, expires June 30th, 2027.
