The Steelers’ young backup quarterbacks are making an impression following last night’s preseason game as Pittsburgh sailed past the Packers to a final score of 28-9.
Rookie Drew Allar threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third while facing Green Bay at Acrisure Stadium. Second-year QB Will Howard was able to complete seven of nine passes for 86 yards on a two-minute drill that ended with a one-yard touchdown run. Allar and Howard are in contention with veteran backup Mason Rudolph to make Pittsburgh’s 53-man roster at the end of the month.
The Steelers have the day off today but return to Saint Vincent for three more sessions of training camp Saturday through Monday. The next game of the pre-season schedule is August 21st at Acrisure Stadium against the New York Jets.
