Joseph “Jay” Monahan, 62, of North Huntingdon, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Irwin.
Born on September 5, 1963, in Wilkinsburg, he was the beloved son of the late Edward and Charolette (Muskovac) Monahan.
Jay was a coach in every sense of the word. Whether on the court or in everyday life, he was constantly teaching, encouraging, challenging, and inspiring those around him to become the best versions of themselves. “Can’t” was never part of his vocabulary. He firmly believed there was always a way forward and encouraged everyone to find hope and positivity, even in life’s most difficult moments. His unwavering strength, optimism, and deep faith guided the way he lived and the way he loved others. His belief in what was possible—and in the people he cared about—was one of the greatest gifts he shared. The lessons he taught and the example he set will continue to live on through his family and the many lives he touched. He is survived by his loving children, Maura (Christopher) Beardsley, Mariah Monahan, and Mason (Laura) Monahan; his brother, Edward (Michele) Monahan, Jr.; three nieces, Danielle Miller, Melanie Lang and Kayleigh Russ, a nephew, Eddie Monahan and his cherished grandchildren, Beau Beardsley, Lainey Beardsley, Aurora Monahan, and Eli Beardsley, all of whom brought him great joy.
