The Indiana County Commissioners released a statement on their recent comment period on data centers at their meeting this morning.
Commissioners chairman Mike Keith said that they received 248 comments through the online portal on the county Office of Planning and Development website on modifying the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance. 123 of them were from Indiana Borough and White Township, and another 54 came from Center and Blacklick Townships along with Homer City Borough. Keith said a majority of the comments were against data centers.
To that end, he said that a public hearing on the issue will come forward soon.
He said that they are looking at ordinances from several other counties to act as a guide.
The commissioners also approved a contract to rehab the runway at Jimmy Stewart Airport, and an application for election integrity grant money for $247,461.
