Pittsburgh Steelers rookie offensive tackle Max Iheanachor was at practice but was still in a limited capacity as the team prepares for its preseason opener.
Head coach Mike McCarthy says there’s no timeline for this year’s first-round pick to return after initially expecting the absence to be short term. Iheanachor suffered a shoulder and neck injury last week.
The Steelers yesterday signed two wide receivers to their training camp roster. Cornell Powell appeared in three regular season games since being drafted by Kansas City in the 5th round in 2021. He is a two-time collegiate football champion and has been with the chiefs for both recent Super Bowls, picking up two super bowl rings as a member of the practice squad. Last year, he was on the UFL’s DC Defenders and helped lead the team to the league title.
The other signee is Isaiah Winstead , who helped the Louisville Kings of the UFL win the title this year. Winstead has 67 catches for 1,044 yards and six receiving touchdowns over three UFL seasons. In the corresponding roster moves Monday, the Steelers waived receiver Colton Dowell and waived/injured Lorenzo Thompson.
Training camp continues today at Saint Vincent in Latrobe. The Steelers will play the first preseason game on Thursday against the Green Bay Packers.
