The Pittsburgh Pirates dropped their fifth game out of their last sixth as they were routed by the Mets yesterday thanks to another left-handed pitcher.

Yesterday’s game was the end of a brutal part of its schedule, playing 17 games in as many days. In that span, the Pirates won five and lost 12 Entering the 17-game stretch on July 24, the Pirates were three games over the .500 mark and just one game behind Arizona for the final NL Wild Card spot. Now, they are four games under .500 and five games back of the wild card.
The Pirates have the day off today as they travel to Miami to take on the Marlins. After the Marlins, the Bucs will host the Boston Red Sox for a three-game weekend series.
