Tuesday night, the Homer City Borough Council approved a contract for the demolition of some buildings along main street.
Borough Manager Tonya Weller said that three of the buildings are across from Disobedient Spirits and the fourth is the lot across from the borough offices. The money to acquire those buildings came to the borough through Local Share Account grants from the Commonwealth Financing Authority. Weller said that the areas will be redeveloped.
Demolition will probably take place after the Hoodlebug Festival at the end of September or in October. The winning bid went to Luterman Excavation in Greensburg at a cost of $177,000.
In other business, council also approved the annual Homer-Center Homecoming parade, which is September 25th. It will start at 6:00 PM and will run from Homer City Fire Station down Main Street to the football stadium.
