The Pirates landed potentially big-time bullpen help Monday before the 6 pm trade deadline when they acquired Luke Weaver from the Mets. But the Bucs weren’t done.
According to reports, Pittsburgh also picked up right-hander Kirby Yates from the Angels and right-hander Lake Bachar from the Marlins. The 39-year-old, 13-year veteran Yates has a 3.95 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 31 appearances this season. The 31-year-old Bachar has a 3.84 ERA this season in 38 games, notching four saves and 61 strikeouts across 58 2/3 innings.
In exchange for Yates, the Pirates sent right-handed pitcher prospect Kyle Robinson, who most recently pitched for Altoona. For Bachar, the Marlins received three minor leaguers, right-handed pitcher Brandan Bidois, infielder Hyun Seung Lee, and outfielder Brian Sanchez.
