Steelers coach Mike McCarthy led his team through the final acclimation workout of training camp on Saturday. The team is off today and the first practice in pads is scheduled for Monday.
The Steelers yesterday announced the 2026 class that will be inducted into the team’s Hall of Honor. Former general manager Kevin Colbert, cornerback J.T. Thomas, and offensive guard Craig Wolfley will be feted at a dinner on September 25th and celebrated on the field at Acrisure Stadium on the 27th before the Steelers play the Cincinnati Bengals.
Colbert joined the Steelers in 2000 as Director of Football Operations and was named the team’s first General Manager in 2010. He was named Vice President and General Manager in 2016. He retired in 2022. During his tenure, the Steelers played in three Super Bowls and won two.
Thomas was the Steelers’ first round draft pick in 1973 and played for them through 1981. He played in 125 career games and intercepted 20 passes, making the Pro Bowl in 1976. He played in three Super Bowls, missing Super Bowl XIII when he sat out the season with sarcoidosis (inflammation of lungs and lymph nodes).
Wolfley was the Steelers’ fifth round draft choice in 1980 and made 102 starts in ten seasons. He placed fifth in the World’s Strongest Man Competition in 1981. He was also a boxer and a black belt in jiu jitsu. According to Steelers.com, “Wolfley spent 23 seasons as a broadcaster and writer, including completing the manuscript for his memoir, ‘If These Walls Could Talk,’ shortly before he died of liver cancer in 2025.
