SCHOOL BOARDS PREPARE FOR START OF NEW ACADEMIC YEAR

With the arrival of August, the area’s school boards are gearing up for the start of a new academic year, with five of Indiana County’s seven school boards meeting this week.

Purchase Line holds a work session on Monday night, with an agenda full of personnel, educational service, and facility use items.  School starts August 24^th at Purchase Line.

• United’s board meets for a committee work session on Tuesday. First day of classes is August 31^st.
• Penns Manor’s board committees meet on Wednesday. Their first student day is August 27^th.
• River Valley’s board also holds a committee meeting on Wednesday (at the STEAM Academy), with the first day of classes scheduled for August 25^th.
• Homer-Center holds a planning meeting on Thursday. Their first day of classes is also August 27^th.

Marion Center and Indiana Area do not have board meetings scheduled this week.  Both of those district start the academic year on August 27^th.

The fall semester at IUP begins August 24^th.
