You have a second chance today to see a world-class drum corps in a live rehearsal at George P. Miller Stadium at IUP.
After the Music City Drum & Bugle Corps worked yesterday in advance of today’s DCI Pittsburgh event at Baldwin High School, today the Phantom Regiment, from Rockford, Illinois, will be rehearsing their program, “Bloodline”, celebrating the “identity and weight of legacy.”
The Phantom Regiment features performers from more than thirty states, along with Japan, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. They are a two-time world champion and a twelve-time medalist, finishing in the top twelve every year since 1974.
Today’s rehearsal begins at 11 AM and will last throughout the day, ending at 10 PM. It’s free to attend and it’s un-ticketed, so you can come and go as you please. Be aware that it’s a working rehearsal, not a complete performance.
IUP Marching Band Director Dr. William Sugg says, “”Having two organizations of this caliber on our campus on back-to-back days is a genuine gift — to our students, and to everyone in this region who loves this activity. Working with Drum Corps International to bring Music City and Phantom Regiment to Indiana means our community can watch world-class performers do their actual work, up close, for free. Our own members report for band camp days later, and there is no better preparation than standing on the sideline while artists like these rehearse.”
