The Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission has announced over $30.7 million in regional federal discretionary funding for projects across the region, including Indiana and Armstrong counties.
The awards are part of the recently-adopted 2027-2031 Transportation Improvement Program, and are meant to advance the region’s long-range plan. The projects must meet federal performance measures that include improving safety, maintaining air quality standards and reducing emissions, and keeping roads and bridges in good shape.
Indiana County and PennDOT District 10 will receive $200,000 to fund design work for improvements along the 8th Street corridor in Downtown Indiana, including crosswalks, traffic calming measures and streetscape improvements. In Armstrong County, $363,191 will go towards the construction of new sidewalks, ADA-compliant ramps and crosswalks, and the addition of shared-lane markings for bikes in Manorville.
