Need a little Penguins news? How about this…the World Junior Summer Showcase is going on right now and Penguins prospect Carter Sanderson already has five goals in just three games. Playing for Team USA Blue, Sanderson opened the Showcase with a hat trick against Sweden on Sunday.
The 18-year-old 2025 sixth round draft pick from Pierre, South Dakota played junior hockey last season for Muskegon in the US Hockey League, scoring seventeen goals with seventeen assists and eighty-eight penalty minutes. He’s committed to play college hockey at Northa Dakota.
Penguins draftees Will Horcoff and Charlie Trethaway are also at the Summer Showcase, which will help determine the Team USA roster for international tournaments in the upcoming season, but Horcoff is not playing because of his recovery from shoulder surgery.
