Facing a 5 PM Monday deadline to sign their 2026 draft picks, the Pirates have signed number five overall selection Derek Curiel, the LSU center fielder.
The signing will be formally announced in a news conference this morning at 9:30 at PNC Park.
MLB Pipeline’s Jim Callis reports that the contract is for $6.2 million, well under the slot value assigned to the number five overall selection.
With one day to go before the deadline, five Pirates picks remain unsigned. They are:
- RHP Rohan Lettow (12th Round), San Diego State
- RHP Damarcus Rideout-Carter (14th Round), Heart Lake Secondary School (Ontario, Canada)
- RHP Grant Govel (16th Round), University of Southern California
- OF Malachi Washington (18th Round), Parkview High School, Georgia
- OF Andrew Duncan (19th Round), Wright State University
Washington has already announced that he will attend LSU to better his future draft chances.
