The National Weather Service has confirmed two EF-0 tornadoes touched down Saturday in Derry Township during the severe storms that rolled through the area.
One storm was spotted around 5:00 PM in the area of Red Cut Road near the border with Latrobe while the other was along Rod-Gun Road, Matson Road and Carey Lane near the border of Derry and Ligonier Townships. National Weather Service officials said the storms were on the weaker side, and they were not on a continuous track. They added that the storms appeared to be circulating in the 70 mile an hour range.
Crews are continuing to clean up the damage and fix roads in the area.
A third tornado was reported just over the Indiana-Jefferson County border in Punxsutawney. That was another EF-0 tornado, and officials said a BMX track was damaged along with several small trees uprooted.
