Tuesday night, Blairsville Borough Council approved paving some of the streets and alleys in town with tar and chips rather than blacktop.
Borough Council Vice President Ab Dettorre said that this is not the first time the borough has gone to tar and chip.
Morrow Street was tarred and chipped last year and Dettorre said the road held up well after multiple plowings. They plan on tarring and chipping parts of three to four streets and a few alleys as well.
The paving plan has not been finalized as of yet.
