Tomorrow is the deadline for Indiana County’s effort to collect public comments regarding the potential coming of data centers to the area.
On Indiana In the Morning on WCCS last month, commissioners chairman Mike Keith said that while state law places land use decisions under the control of municipalities, the county does administer the Subdivision & Land Development Ordinance (SALDO) for thirty-two municipalities. Center Township and Black Lick Township are both covered by the county’s SALDO, but Homer City Borough and Burrell Township both have their own SALDOs.
Once the public comment survey period is ended, the county will plan a public forum for further discussion.
According to the county, no data center proposals have been submitted yet. To make your comment, visit the Office of Planning & Development home page at icopd.org. Under “Community Outreach” use the link for “public Comment for Land Development in Indiana County”.
