As part of the Third Thursday celebration in Downtown Indiana, the Indiana Varsity Baseball team was given honors from the state and local levels.
Indiana Borough Mayor Charles Simelton and State Representative Jim Struzzi presented the team with proclamations congratulating the team, with the Mayor proclaiming Thursday as Indiana Area High School Baseball Championship Day. Struzzi said in his comments that Indiana’s back-to-back PIAA championships prove that baseball is “for real” in Indiana.
Indiana became only the fifth team in PIAA history to win back-to-back state baseball titles on top of winning consecutive WPIAL championships. To watch Thursday night’s ceremony, click on the video player below.
