A temporary traffic signal and new lane markings are scheduled to be installed this week at the Route 22 West and Route 119 off-ramp intersection. It’s part of a series of traffic modifications initiated after a traffic study done by Kiewit and PennDOT, to address issues related to the truck traffic for the Homer City Redevelopment project.
Other changes already done or in progress include the widening of the intersection at Coal Road and Power Plant Road in Center Township, which began June 22nd and is expected to be complete by the end of the month; stop signs have been added at the three-way intersection of Cherry Run Road and Coal Road (state routes 3033 and 3017), also in Center Township; stop signs have been added to Campbell’s Mill Road at its intersection with Black Lick Road in Burrell Township, and the stop sign on Black Lick Road has been removed; and the traffic signal timing has been adjusted at the Route 286/Route 422 eastbound off-ramp in White Township.
The PennDOT schedule this week includes the start of a new project this week. The replacement of the Dilltown Bridge on River Road in Buffington Township begins on Wednesday, with a detour taking effect and lasting through October 30th.
Traffic will be diverted from the Cramer Pike (Route 403) intersection on one side of the bridge and at Bracken Road on the other, using Route 22, Wehrum Road, and River Road as alternatives. The project is scheduled to be completed next summer.
