The State System of Higher Education has approved a tuition hike for the second time in as many years.
Those attending state system schools will see a 4.3% increase in tuition, but PASSHE officials said that the planned increases would be rolled back if the yet-to-be-approved state budget will increase funding to state schools. A $31 million increase was requested by the state system leaders, and the tuition increase would be the equivalent of that money.
PASSHE increased tuition last year, and had promised to roll back the tuition increase if the budget showed an increase in funding, but the increase remained in place after state funding remained stagnant.
Tuition and fees for IUP will be determined in late July.
