The Pittsburgh Sports & Exhibition Authority has approved funding for 17,873 seats at Acrisure Stadium in the second phase of Steelers’ replacement program. Last year the team replaced 22,236 upper bowl seats. This year they will be putting new seats in the lower level, east side at a cost of $5.8 million. The deteriorating seats are almost all original to the 25-year-old stadium. There will also be concrete repair to the seating area.
The plan is to ultimately replace more than 58,000 of the 68,400 seats at the stadium, with completion of the project in a final phase next year.
