A man was killed yesterday morning while working on a school bus at a garage in New Florence.
Westmoreland County Coroner John Ackerman confirmed that Barry A. Barker of Ligonier was working underneath the vehicle at the Lodestar Bus Lines facility on 13th Street when the bus moved forward out of the garage, rolled across Route 711 and partially into a yard. State police say Barker accidentally clipped a brake line. No one else was hurt and no buildings were damaged.
Police added that he was working on the bus on his own and the bus had brake issues that needed to be fixed before the school year started.
The cause and manner of death are pending the results of an autopsy. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is also investigating the incident.
