Residents voiced concerns about a proposed data center in Pine Creek Township during last week’s Jefferson County Commissioners meeting, citing its projected use of 1.2 million gallons of water per day and potential environmental impacts.
According to ExploreJefferson pa.com article, Commissioners said the county currently lacks zoning or land-use regulations to block the project but is developing a Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO), while urging municipalities to adopt their own rules.
Officials said water and electricity demands remain key concerns, and Brookville Borough has already approved a 180-day moratorium on new data center development.
