Indiana Borough this week will begin work on five bridges, all of them over Marsh Run.
The Indiana Borough Bridge Repair Project is financed by the state Department of Community and Economic Development’s Multimodal Transportation Fund. The work will start on the bridge on Maple Street and move on to the Locust Street bridge soon after. As those two bridges near completion, repairs will then begin on the bridges at Fourth and Church streets, School Street, and Seventh Street.
All of the bridges will be milled and any structural damage will be repaired. Substantial completion of the project is scheduled for the end of November.
The borough has also been awarded DEP Growing Greener funding to stabilize three sections of streambank along Marsh Run, aiming to mitigate erosion and flooding. Work is scheduled to begin this fall or early next spring on the stream from Coulter to Polar Avenues, Willow Avenue to Seventh Street, and on the Fifth Street Bridge Approach Channel Stabilization project.
You can read the specifics of each of those projects and see the list of possible future projects by visiting the borough’s Stormwater Action Plan, which is linked below.
