Konnor Griffin returned to the Pirates lineup last night, but that was spoiled by the Cincinnati Reds. Joe Block reports.
Last night’s loss was the team’s eighth straight defeat with Paul Skenes starting. The streak that matched the most in a single season since they lost eight straight Johan Oviedo starts from June 10-July 21 in 2023.
The Pirates and Reds are back in action today. Jared Jones will start for the Bucs (1-1, 5.75 ERA) while Chase Burns will start for the Reds. (9-1, 2.00 ERA). Airtime is 3:40 on WCCS.
To make room for Griffin’s return, the Pirates optioned Jack Brannigan back to Altoona.
