Officials with the Indiana County Register and Recorder’s office are warning people of a property scam that is going on in the area.
The suspected fraudsters are frequenting some of the rural areas, asking and harassing landowners to get them to sell their property. The suspects claim to be working for the county or a utility company and are driving cars with Texas license plates. Recent reports say the scammers are hitting the southern part of the county, and are targeting vacant properties and property owned by seniors.
They encourage you to not engage them and to call state police at 724-357-1960 and report any descriptions and license plate numbers.
