A Westmoreland County man is claiming self-defense in the shooting death of his uncle.
Forty-five-year-old Joshua Lowry of Mount Pleasant says that he awoke just before noon Saturday to the sound of his uncle — Bruce Kasiewicz — knocking on his bedroom window. According to Lowry, he let the man inside and that the uncle later approached him with a child’s wooden oar as he was getting dressed. Lowry — feeling threatened — shot his uncle in the chest.
Investigators say they found no sign of an altercation and Lowry has been charged with homicide.
